Homeland - episode one.

Homeland

Is a new show on channel four based in America. It is basically about a soldier who was left for dead in Iraq. He is rescued by American soldiers after years of being in captivity. However when he returns to America and is called a 'hero' a young women thinks different and goes on to investigate him.

In the first episode all the characters where introduced. The soldier captivated (Nicholas Brody) is rescued and returned to America, welcomed by citizens and his family. His family who assumed he was dead gave up hope of him ever returning and moved on with their lives, Brodys wife who has been sleeping with his former friend or is also a soldier while he was taken hostage made out they never had given up hope.

A CIA officer who was tipped of by a man held hostage in Iraq that an American soldier had turned and would now be a threat to America ivestigates as soon as Brody gets home. In a meeting with Brody, Carrie Mathison (CIA officer) shoes pictures of Al-Qaeda to him and asks if he has seen him and he denys ever seeing him. Because Carrie doesnt believe this, she illegally puts CCTV in Brodys home allowing her to watch everyone of his movements.

To the end of the programme you realize that Carrie is maybe not sane as her friend discovers physcotic pills in her aspirin box which she takes daily, but also when Brody meets up with the wife of his former partner who was also captivated he explains he died being beaten to death and says he never saw it, a flashback shows that Brody was the one beating his friend to death commanded by Al-Qaeda himself. This highlights that maybe the story is not as obvious as we though it would be.

In this episode uses flashbacks to the crime science, for example the place where they were being held capitive and beaten. It also uses quite sacry images of people being beaten and prepared for torture for example Brody is tied by his legs dangling upside down naked covered in blood, this is probably to give the viewers an insite of what might happen in real life, giving them a shock.

Toller is shown shooting a man called Marcel who owned the airstrip 30 minutes away from where the plan crashed. It was clear the pair was exchanging something. The team finds renee lockear - Marcels work partner- in the bathroom hiding. Renee locklear is found to be a Agent on a mission to find a box with three sets of $100.00 bill printing plates. During that time Toller has hijacked a car with a 16 year old girl in it. He orders her to drive him to the destinatiopn and drop of these plates to the house. The girl enters the house and soon the team come flooding in and arrest the man in the house. Jack Toller who is still in the car waitiing outside escapees with ease.
During this, one ofthe team members Natalia is trying to help a former cell mate -Randy North- get custody of his children. He tells the team he was threatned by Toller to do this. Natalia testifies but he looses custody. It all comes to a sour end when Randy seeks revenge on Natalia and Horatio for not winning the custody of his children for him. The viewers are left with a clifhanger off Natalia trapped in a boot of a car rolling of a pier into the sea and horatio on the ground shot.

They have used good cliffhanger here. People will want to know what iss going to happen to the main characters of the programme. It will make people come back and watch the nest series to find out whats happend.
Also...
The use of equipment givesuspence making the viewer really copncentrate on whats happening. For example loud sirens and cars driving fast will show that somethings going on.
Also the use of music for example if the music is fast paced you will know that somethings going down. It highlights danger.
Also, slow motion is a great effect because again it will keep the reader on the edge of their seats.

CSI New York- Indelible. (Episode 1)

The first epidsode was had two stories in it. One was about a bar robbery that lead to a death. Also another story was about things that happened to some of the main actors during the 9/11 attacks.

One of the main actors in CSI New York is a man called Mac Taylor, his wife died when one of the buildings collapassed. Also a friend of Mac lost his son who was a fireman in the 9/11 aswell. The use of flashbacks shows the audience the reality of how many peoples lives were lost during the attacks and also illustrates how many people and familes suffered losses when a memorial takes place to remember all the people that died.

The robbery in the bar was about a doorman who was shot dead outside the bar in the early hours off the morning. The police are able to track down a lost phone that was stollen during the robbery in a hotel room. (This shows that they use scientifical items to solve the crimes). They go to the hotel room and find the two main suspects there in the outfit that was described by a young women who was a friend of the doorman. They arrest both men but when they interview them seperatly the force realise that they both are denying killing the doorman. That they only robbed the place for money. As the story line goes on they use equipment to test out blood smears that were on the wall and takes swaps of DNA. They realize that the men couldnt of killled the doorman as the blood was splattered and dried way after they left. They then go on the interview the 'friend' of the doorman. She fiinally cracks owning up to the investigators that she killed the doorman, giving her easons why. She tells them it was something to do with money problems and she didnt mean for him to get hurt.
